Most Awkward Moment of 2006 (so far)
When I had to e-mail a colleague at another institution and ask if another colleague I've been corresponding with for months and months now was a woman or a man.
and the answer to your unasked question: woman

I think we need more detail. Why did you ask?

because i was hot for them.
long story short: my legal department needed to send her a letter and were wondering how to address it (she has a very uncommon name).

I wasn't sure if it was a voice issue or a name issue.
It would have been great if you had just sent it "Dear Sir or Madam".

I shouldn't worry; we live in enlightened times and men and women aren't ashamed of being mistaken for one another anymore. At least, thats the way things are in metropolitan Europe, man.. its anything goes here: last friday I saw a man not wearing a tie accompanying a woman who was smoking a cigarette and not wearing a hat. I suspect them of being tourists from Bohemia (very likely since it is now in the EU)(well, probably, its in the Czech republic or Slovakia or somewhere, and those guys are all in the EU these days).

no, but I did write a letter to my member of parliament, asking him to send gunboats to bohemia.
All to no avail; it is landlocked.
